egenerative Treatment of an Immature, Traumatized ooth With Apical Periodontitis: Report of a Case

c bstract his case report describes the treatment of a nec mmature permanent central incisor with comple rown fracture, suspected root fracture, and sinus tr hich was not treated with conventional apexificat echniques. Instead, a regenerative approach based he trauma literature’s methods for revascularizati as provided. The root canal was gently debride ecrotic tissue with a sharp spoon excavator and ated for only one third of its length with NaOC hen medicated with calcium hydroxide. After 15 d he sinus tract had healed, and the tooth was as omatic. The tooth was accessed, calcium hydrox as removed, bleeding was stimulated to form ntracanal blood clot, and mineral trioxide aggreg as placed coronally to the blood clot. After 8 mo coronal calcified barrier was radiographically evid nd accompanied with progressive thickening of oot wall and apical closure. Two and a half years reatment was initiated, the tooth remained asympto tic, and the sinus tract had not reappeared. The ressive increase in the thickness of the dentinal w nd subsequent apical development suggest that ropriate biologic responses can occur with this typ reatment of the necrotic immature permanent to ith sinus tract.
